Liverpool could punish Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals - Guillem Balague

That’s the verdict of Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who admits Lionel Messi could single-handedly send Barca to the final in their last-four showdown.

LIVERPOOL will expose Barcelona if they make the same mistakes they did early on in their previous win over Manchester United.

That’s the verdict of Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who admits Lionel Messi could single-handedly send Barca to the final in their last-four showdown.

Liverpool setup a Champions League semi-final with Barcelona by beating Porto in the quarters

Liverpool brushed Porto aside in the quarters to setup a meeting with Barca, who thrashed United 4-0 on aggregate in their own last-eight tie.
However, early in their second-leg win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, the latter created a number of clear-cut chances at the Nou Camp.

And Balague insists the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will not let such golden opportunities pass them by.

“If you give the advantage to Liverpool and they take it, and they normally do, it will be Liverpool going through”
Guillem Balague
Barcelona have shown weaknesses of course,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“In the first 10 minutes against Manchester United, if it had been Liverpool, it could have been Salah, Mane, 2-0 to Liverpool and end of the fixture almost - even though this was the second leg, but you know what I’m trying to say.
“If you give the advantage to Liverpool and they take it, and they normally do, it will be Liverpool going through.
“Unless Messi decides otherwise.”

As well as competing in the Champions League, Liverpool are also vying to clinch their first league title in 29 years this season.
A 2-0 win away at Cardiff on Sunday ensured they kept the pressure on champions Manchester City, with Georginio Wijnaldum opening the scoring and James Milner then netting from the spot following a controversial penalty decision.
Bluebirds captain Sean Morrison was deemed to have brought down Salah in the box with nine minutes remaining, which has divided opinion in the country.
Nevertheless, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was delighted with three points, hailing a ‘massive’ win for his team.

“It’s massive, it’s really massive,” he said.
“It was so difficult. If you say that before the game, everyone looks at you like you’re not allowed to say it.
“Going to Cardiff, you have to work there. We spoke a lot about this game, how special it is, how special the situation is for the opponent just to make clear what we had to do today.
“It was not a game for a little bit of playing around, it was a game for a 100 per cent fight, a battle of will again and who wants it more?”
